Selena Gomez is one of the top social media influencers in the world, but she has never fully embraced it and has always been honest about her issues with it.
While promoting her new zombie movie The Dead Donât Die at the Cannes Film Festival, she made her feelings about it clearer than ever, telling a packed room:
"For my generation specifically, social media has been terrible. I understand that itâs amazing to use as a platform but it does scare me when you see how exposed these young girls and boys are. I think itâs dangerous for sure.â
Adding that she thinks "itâs impossible to make it safe at this point. Iâm grateful I have a platform. I donât do a lot of pointless pictures. For me, I like to be intentional with it. I see these young girls âĻ Iâll meet them at meet-and-greets, and theyâre just devastated by bullying and not having a voice."
Selenaâs new movie The Dead Donât Die hits theaters June 14th.
